Online workshops on biosecurity and hunting efficiency

    Organized by the Operational Group for the Prevention of African Swine Fever (GO PREVPA), the online workshops will be held on March 7 and 9 in the morning and will feature a dozen experts.


    El Operational Group for the Prevention of African Swine Fever (GO PREVPA), coordinated by researchers from the Research Group in Health and Biotechnology (SaBio) of the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC – CSIC, UCLM, JCCM)has organized two online workshops to train the different sectors involved on the latest advances in the prevention of this infectious disease.

    Under the name "Innovation in biosecurity to reduce risks associated with wild boarthe first online workshop will start on Tuesday, March 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The opening will be carried out by Daniel Hernández, a technician from the Interprofessional del Porcino de Capa Blanca (INTERPORC). The pig sector will also have the presence of Manuel González, technical director of the Interprofessional Association of Iberian Pigs (ASICI), in addition to presentations by three IREC researchers: Joaquín Vicente, Eduardo Laguna and Mario Sebastian

    Two days later, at the same time, will be held the workshop "Innovation in improving hunting efficiency for the regulation of wild boar populations”. On this occasion, the panel of experts is made up of María Teresa González, from APROCA Extremadura; Mencía Serrano, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Juan Herrera, on behalf of the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation (RFEC); Gonzalo Varas, from the Artemisan Foundation; Jaime Hurtado, representing the Game Meat Interprofessional Association (ASICCAZA), and the aforementioned IREC scientists Joaquín Vicente and Eduardo Laguna.

     

    Organized by the Operational Group for the Prevention of African Swine Fever (GO PREVPA), the online workshops will be held on March 7 and 9 in the morning and will feature a dozen experts.

    With these online workshops, GO PREVPA resumes its training activities, with the novelty that on this occasion the main results obtained in the various works that have been carried out will be presented. One of the main objectives of GO PREVPA is to transfer innovative tools to prevent the spread of African swine fever to all sectors involved in its prevention. For this reason, the workshops are aimed at both farmers and veterinarians as well as agents of the hunting sector and public administrations.

    Both workshops, for which registrations are already open, will have a final space reserved to resolve the doubts and questions of the attendees, who will only need an account on the ZOOM platform to be able to participate.
