My research can be framed in the fields of Behavioral Ecology and Ecophysiology. I am particularly interested on the physiological mechanisms that underlie different behaviours andlife-history trade-offs of animals. In particular, my work focuses on clarifying the proximate factors that constrain and modulate reproduction, development and expression of quality signals. Among these mechanisms, I pay particular attention to those involving the endocrine system and oxidative stress. Birds are my principal study models in these topics, particularly the Red-legged partridge (Alectoris rufa), the Spotless starling(Sturnus unicolor) and the pied Flycatcher(Ficedula hypoleuca).
