Online workshop on the positive aspects of hunting from a One Health perspective

    The workshop, aimed at the livestock and hunting sectors, will take place on May 18, 2022 and will address the positive effects of hunting and hunting management on the health of ecosystems and animal health, among other aspects.


    Under the name "Positive aspects of hunting and the role of the hunter and rancher", he Operational Group for the Prevention of African Swine Fever (GO PREVPA) launches a workshop specialized in mode of free training, specially designed for the livestock and hunting sectors.

    The workshop, which will be held next May 18th 2022, will last 3 hours and a half and will include the participation of a dozen experts related to hunting, livestock farming, research and animal health, including Dr. Eduardo Laguna, from Research Group in Health and Biotechnology (SaBio) of the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC – CSIC, UCLM, JCCM).

    All of them will value the positive aspects of hunting in relation to the health of ecosystems, with the aim of discussing the perception of this activity from different points of view and evaluating its current situation, also addressing the entire scenario as a whole from a perspective One Health.

    On the other hand, other related topics will be discussed, such as the positioning of game meat in the gastronomic market, tips to prevent African swine fever (ASF) or the population control of the wild boar.

    During the course of the day, the speakers will make their presentations in talks that last around half an hour, with space for a 15-minute break halfway through the day. Starting at 12:35 p.m., there will be a Roundtable, in which the different points of view of the hunting activity will be discussed, both from the sector itself and from the farmer.
