The workshops are free and will be given online, and are especially aimed at professionals in the livestock and hunting sectors, the veterinary community and representatives of the administration with competences in the fight against African swine fever in Spain.
El Operational Group for the Prevention of African Swine Fever in Spain (GO PREVPA) plans to develop, as part of its action plan for the months of May and June 2022, a series of training workshops that will address various topics related to the fight against African swine fever (ASF) in Spain, and which will have the participation of specialized speakers.
In total there will be three workshops aimed at different sectors directly or indirectly involved in the potential expansion of ASF in Spain, such as livestock, hunting, veterinary and public administrations. The first will address the innovative tools in biosecurity, the second the population regulation of the wild boar, and the third the positive aspects of hunting as a control tool. Each one of these workshops, about 3 hours long, will be given in several days in virtual format through the Zoom platform.
The control of wild boar populations, which in many scenarios generates overflow problems, is essential to prevent African swine fever (ASF) in Spain.
Biosecurity workshop in pig farms
The first day of the workshop specialized in “Innovation in biosecurity to reduce risks associated with wild boar”, aimed at the livestock sector, the veterinary collective and public administrations, took place on May 4. The second and third days of this workshop will be held on May 24 in the afternoon and 21 June in the morning. In these conferences, the latest advances in biosecurity will be discussed, with special emphasis on pig farming and risk management in livestock farms, including the resolution of a practical case.

The first of the days of this workshop took place on May 11, while the second and third days will be given inl June 7 and 14.
