The "JAE-Intro” are financial aid that the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) allocates to the training of young people who want to start in the world of scientific research. One of these aids, with reference JAEINT22_EX_1426, falls on the formative project "Ecological determinants of landscape immunity in Mediterranean environments" of the Research Group in Health and Biotechnology (SaBio) of the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC – CSIC, UCLM, JCCM).
It is a offer for university students who have completed a very important part of their Degree or have finished it, or for Master students with a recent Degree completion date. An average grade of the file (complete or in progress) equal to or greater than 8,00 (0-10 scale) is required.
The training projectEcological determinants of landscape immunity in Mediterranean environments” is part of a research project on «Ecological and Digital Transition» financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation that will begin? in December 2022, so that aims to train a recent Graduate/Master in the line of research on determinants of emerging zoonotic diseases within the SaBio Group of IREC.
The training plan includes a first initial phase of one or two weeks in which it will be offered? the student information on occupational risk prevention, work protocols in the field and laboratory, management protocols, processing and conservation of samples and basic notions on data recording and database management based on your skills in this field.
In a second formative phaseWill it be offered? training in aspects related to field work for environmental characterization, placement and management of trap cameras for ecological studies, placement of data recording devices (environmental, bird sounds, ultrasound of murcie? lakes), placement and use of devices for the capture of hematophagous arthropods, taking of biological samples from wild animals and their processing and conservation, as well as as basic aspects of the diagnosis, detection and characterization of infectious agents in biological samples.

Depending on the potential development of the training program and the interest of the student, will there be? the possibility of offering a Doctoral Thesis project Whose academic supervision will be carried out? in the PhD Program in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
