Offer of pre-doctoral contract to study the high levels of selenium in the Daimiel Tables

    The contract is part of the SELTOX Project, of the IREC Wildlife Toxicology Research Group, has a duration of 3 years and requires immediate incorporation.


    El Research Group in Wildlife Toxicology of the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC – CSIC, UCLM, JCCM) seeks a candidate to carry out the doctoral thesis in the field of “SELTOX Project: Causes and effects of high selenium levels in Las Tablas de Daimiel National Park and relationship with drought-flood cycles".

    The selected person will conduct their research on the impact that high levels of selenium in the sediment of the Tablas de Daimiel National Park have on the biodiversity of this natural area, for which it is planned to carry out a map of selenium levels in plants, sediment and water in the Park, the study of its bioaccumulation and effects on the biota, and the carrying out of experiments in mesocosms to simulate the effects of the cycles of drought-flood in the availability of selenium.

     

    SELTOX Project: Causes and effects of high selenium levels in Las Tablas de Daimiel National Park and relationship with drought-flood cycles.

    The first part of the doctoral thesis will be financed through a 2-year contract from the Research Program, which will continue for a third year through the own funds of the SELTOX project, financed by the Autonomous Organization of National Parks. The contract requires immediate incorporation.

    Interested persons must meet the following requirements:

    • Have completed a Master's Degree or a Bachelor's degree of a minimum of 300 ECTS. The theme of the Master must be related to the lines of research of the IREC. Undergraduate training will be in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or other related disciplines in the field of Life Sciences and Health Sciences.
    • Be under 30 years of age as of July 30, 2022.
    • Not having held any position in the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) after December 15, 2021.
    • Be registered as a job seeker in one of the offices of the Public Employment Service of Castilla-la Mancha before June 15, 2022.
