Ecology and Wildlife Management

El Research Group in Wildlife Ecology and Management studies the relationships between different human activities, such as agriculture and hunting, and wildlife (including game species), as a way to achieve sustainable use of resources. Additionally, it studies the factors associated with wildlife conservation in areas where hunting is an important land use (such as agricultural areas). Studies the factors associated with population changes in small game species (including changes in agricultural practices, predation and hunting management), as well as the relationships between hunting, agricultural activities and conservation of game species and other game species. fauna of agricultural environments. Finally, the group aims to develop scientifically based management measures that, once transferred to wildlife managers, allow the recovery and sustainable use of small game species, also benefiting biodiversity in the habitats where they occur. It also carries out research that can help in the resolution of social and ecological conflicts such as those that arise between hunting and agricultural management (such as the control of predators for hunting or control of pest species to limit agricultural damage) and the conservation of biodiversity. .
