Garcia Alvarez, Olga

Olga is veterinary degree (University of Extremadura) and Dr. from the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM). In 2005 she began her research activity as a pre-doctoral researcher at the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA).

After carrying out different stays in Spanish and foreign universities, in 2016 he participated in the Creation of the Reproductive Medicine research group of the Biomedical Center of the Carolina University (Pilsen, Czech Republic), where he leads the area of ​​Andrology.

Currently enjoying a postdoctoral contract Juan de la Cierva Incorporation at UCLM, within the Research Group in Health and Biotechnology (SaBio) of the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC – CSIC, UCLM, JCCM).

His research activity is focused on the sperm physiology, andrology and gamete interaction, and sperm cryobiology, as well as the loss of the fertilizing capacity of the sperm. Currently, he is carrying out studies on sperm biology at the molecular level, mainly monitoring different epigenetic markers, and their relationship with the seminal quality and fertility of individuals in different mammalian species (including the human species). Along the same lines, another of his interests is the effect of the increase in environmental temperature on the sperm epigenome as a possible cause of male infertility.
