AFRICAN SWINE FEVER DRILL - ORGANIZED BY IREC

The managers of animal health, hunting and environment of all the autonomous peninsular communities, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA), have carried out on June 4 and 5 a series of simulations of coordination and action before a Eventual outbreak of African swine fever (PPA). It is an emerging disease that affects several European countries. Spain, with a relevant and highly export-dependent swine sector, has operational protocols and means for emergencies. The simulation, which has been organized in collaboration between the Sage research group of the IREC and the General Directorate of Sanitation of the agricultural production of the MAP, has allowed to evaluate in a practical way the alertness and immediate response capacity, in various Situations, to improve the protocols of work before a possible outbreak of PPA in wild boar.
